5g Network - Will 4G Phones Work on 5G Network?
5G Network technology is designed to provide network speeds up to 10 times faster than the previous 4G networks. More importantly, it will be faster, more reliable and less demanding then 4G and 3G networks because of increased frequency of data traffic, increased proportion of video content being transmitted in higher resolution and core data services being required for autonomous vehicles.
In 2020 the three major providers (AT&T, Sprint, Verizon) expect to launch their networks using 5th gen technology which would offer download speeds from 450 megabytes per second (Mbps) up to 2 gigabytes per second (Gbps).
Some big companies like Facebook or Tesla are already investing into 5th generation networks. In May 2018 Google's Project AirFiber was announced which let people access a newly rolled out 100 gigabit per second access point for $300 a month without minimum contract fees.
